About us

A Hosting Family

In 2020, our French–Uruguayan family found a new home in Portugal. Diego, once an engineer, traded his desk for a surfboard, chasing waves and a slower way of living. Lucie, a nature-loving physiotherapist, pours her care into both people and our home, bringing warmth to everything she does.

We’ve always loved welcoming people, creating spaces where guests feel not just comfortable, but part of the family. Our dream is to one day have our own piece of land near the ocean — a place filled with homegrown food, the sound of the waves, and a community of like-minded souls.

This winter, our journey takes us to the beautiful coastline near Aljezur, in southern Portugal. Here, the winters are gentle, the days warmer than in the north, and the ocean gifts us a rideable wave every day. We’re opening our doors to friends and guests who want to step away from the rush, breathe salty air, and share the joy of simple living — and for sure some waves — together.

Come be part of our story.

What guests say about us

Fabi S.

"Diego is a very experienced and motivating surf coach and guide. Had some of the best sessions and surfaris with him.“"

Evy R.

"Diego is one with the water. And that energy spreads and transfers to the people, me included, who surfs with him. He treats the nature and every human with respect and kindness. I appreciate his groundless, I always feel safe and calm around him, both in and out of the water.

He will also make sure we remember why we do what we do, and why we love what we love. To make us keep smiling, while learning, not compromising either on the focus/performance of the session or the joy of being in the water"

Marius W.

"Surfing with Diego is like meditating on a cliff above a big shore break. You hear and feel the power of the waves while you are safe and calm.

I spent many hours in the water with Diego. One of the moments I will never forget is last-minute duck-dive side by side under a sudden big set in a late autumn session. Coming back to the surface, seeing the beautiful spray, breathing deeply.

Surfing with Diego you can safely explore the edge of your comfort zone and lift your surfing to the next level."

SURF GUIDING

With 10 years of teaching surfing, my passion is to help you feel comfortable in the water and push your surfing to the next level. Human-oriented and always striving to nourish a sense of gratitude for the ocean, we will aim to enjoy every single moment of our journey together, whether it's the adrenaline of dropping a steep wave or the wipeout and the feeling of letting go, having no control for a few seconds.

We offer guided sessions with a maximum of 4 surfers per group and around 2 hours at the beach. According to the ocean conditions and your level, we will drive to the beach that offers the best waves of the day in the area.

Theory is an important aspect to understand the ocean, it helps you feel safe in the water and to improve your surfing. EIther during the drive, before entering the water or back in the house, theory sessions will be shared in several topics such as reading a forecast, waves generation, types of breaks, surf etiquette, surf equipment or anything you want to know about surfing and I am able to share with you.

For those joining at least 1 week with us, 1x video feedback is also included. Seeing yourself in the waves is a great tool to improve your surfing.

This option can be booked staying with us in our place or you can choose your own accomoodation according to your needs.

Community week

Once a year, we come together with friends as a family and live in the same place for one week, sharing all the costs equally and taking turns cooking for each other.

This option is reserved for intermediate to advanced surfers, as there are no lessons offered We share meals and waves in a community vibe.

Autumn 2026 will host this event; get in touch for more details.

About Diego

I was born in Uruguay and spent my first 25 years in Montevideo, enjoying my holidays by the ocean. From a young age, I developed a passion for the waves, body-surfing, and swimming in the sea.

In 2015, I began surfing in my home country with irregular shortboard sessions, teaching myself along the way. I did not manage to stand up on a single wave, but I was simply stoked to be paddling around with a board. By the end of that year, a desire to step outside my comfort zone and explore the world led me to take a year off from my “normal” life and journey to Australia. There, I experienced surfing in an entirely new way, under the guidance of a local old-school surfer, I started catching waves and became completely hooked.

At one point I started feeling more joy sharing waves and helping others to surf than surfing on my own so I decided to teach surfing as a profession and got my Portuguese Diploma in the field.

I have been teaching in Morocco at Endosurf for various years and some years in Portugal at Praia Grande with SurfAcademia and with SeaNatives at Praia da Tocha.

Over the years I become a confident speaker of Portuguese, English and French besides my native Spanish.
